During these difficult times in our neighborhoods and lives, the Basha Gridiron Club continued forward with the plans to host the Clothing Drive on Saturday, March 28th. The drop location of the Clothing & Linens was changed to Jim & Tami Kaiser's, due to the closure of the school campus regarding the virus. The parents/boosters responded well, the extra time to clean out dressers and closets was a good thing. As you can see in the picture, over three thousand pounds of Clothing & Linens were piled on the Kaiser's driveway. Sunshine Acres, a non-profit foster care facility in the East Valley, came by shortly after the collection time, weighed the items and loaded them. Sunshine Acres paid us $.15 per lb, so we raised $455 for the football program.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Jim & Tami Kaiser for reaching out to the Basha Football Program with the idea, providing the new location drop and connecting with Sunshine Acres for this event. The Kaiser's son played linebacker for the Basha Varsity team & Graduated in 2015. During these last few years, the football program had stepped away from this type of fundraiser, so it was nice change of pace and one we should keep in mind every couple of seasons since we all tend to collect more items over time. Thank you Jim & Tami!
